The spirituality of Unity is budding into new lines of theological, philosophical and social thought. The new perspectives are laying the basis for the renewal that culture needs in order to respond to the great cultural crisis afflicting both East and West at the dawn of the new millenium.

The new lines of thought are emerging from the "Abba School" . Began in 1990, the Abba School is comprised of Chiara Lubich and more than 20 experts from the various disciplines: from theology, in its various specializations, to philosophy, from ecumenism to politics, from natural science to the economy, from sociology to psychology.

Since 1998, three hundred professors and experts in various fields from different countries have become involved. Their capacity to collaborate is drawn from their spiritual experience of the charisma of unity as well as their professional qualifications.

In the past few years, both Catholic and public universities have been giving recognition to the spiritual impact the charisma of unity is having in the various fields of culture. Chiara Lubich has received several honorary degrees in various disciplines, which, in turn, are giving rise to new cultural developments.

This new culture of unity is already in act in the various expressions of the Focolare Movement. It is nourished and spread in various ways. There is a New City Publishing house in 26 countries releasing over 300 books a year and several magazines, among which is the bimonthly Cittą Nuova, of general interest, in Italian. Thirty six nations have their own edition. Altogether it is published in 24 languages.
