The purpose for which the Focolare Movement was born is to give its contribution to the actualisation of the prayer for unity: "That all may be one" (Jn 17:21) that is, to work with the Church to accomplish the fullness of unity among all Christians. The Movement also aims to collaborate with the faithful of other religions and people of good will to bring about universal brotherhood.

As far as our Movement developed, four 'dialogues' opened up:

within the Catholic Church
among Christians of different denominations
among believers of various faiths
with people of no religious affiliation

The spirituality of unity, which is born from the Gospel, points out the parallel values existing in other faiths and cultures; this means that it is shared in many ways.
Common bond of unity is love, which beats in the depth of every human heart.
