| Spirituality The Gospel |
| The words of the Gospel are
unique, fascinating and unambiguous. They can be translated into life. They are light for every person who comes into this world and therefore universal. By living them, everything is transformed: our relationship with God, with our neighbours, with our enemies. |

| The Gospel affirms a scale of values in which God is given the first place in the human heart. The words of the Gospel have extraordinary promises: to anyone who gives shall be given a hundredfold in this world and eternal life. (Mt. 19,29) The Italian alphabet is composed of 21 letters only, but any Italian who does not know them will remain illiterate for ever. The Gospel is a tiny little book, however those who do not practice its words remain underdeveloped Christians, so to speak. They project an image of the Church which does not witness Christ. What is required of Christians today is a radical evangelization of their way of thinking, of loving, of acting, of living. The words of the Scriptures are a presence of God. Assimilating Gods words and practising them makes people free, it purifies, it converts, it brings comfort, joy, wisdom, it produces fruitful works and generates vocations. Gods word put into practice may also provoke persecutions. It generates Christ in those who live it and in those around them. (from Chiara Lubichs writings) |
