The 7th World Assembly of the World Conference on Religion and Peace (WCRP) will convene over 600 religious, political and civil leaders to forge a dynamic partnership of religions working for peace and common living in the new Millennium. The Assembly will be held in Amman, Jordan, from November 25-29, under the patronage of King Abdullah II and the Chairmanship of Prince El Hassan bin Talal. Representatives of Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Confucianism, Bahaism, Jainism, Shintoism, Sikhism, Taoism and Zoroastrianism will address such issues as "Religion and the Child", "Conflict Transformation", "Development", "Human Rights" and "Disarmament and Security". "This unprecedented gathering of religious leaders from South Eastern Europe will initiate a process of contact and dialogue among the religious communities both within specific states and throughout the region to develop concrete inter-religious cooperation," said Dr. William F. Vendley, Secretary General of WCRP. "The timing of the forum will allow the worlds religious communities to have input on the needs and priorities for the implementation of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe." Founded in 1970, the World Conference on Religion and Peace is based on the principle of profound respect for religious differences and is solely dedicated to multi-religious cooperation for peace. WCRP is organized on an international, regional and national basis, on every continent, and in some of the most troubled places on earth. Among the WCRP Presidents: Dr. Abdurrahman Wahid, newly elected President of Indonesia, Rabbi David Rosen of Jerusalem (Israel), Dr. Hans Küng (Germany), Rev. Nichiko Niwano president of the Buddhist movement Rissho Kosei Kai (Japan), Imam W.D. Mohammed afro-american muslims leader (USA), and among the Honorary Presidents: Metropolitan Athanasios (Turkey), Ms. Norma Levitt (USA), Rev.
